Fun Facts
One of my favorite things to do is play indoor soccer. I grew up watching and playing a lot of soccer. Although I can’t play as much as I want to I still sneak in a few hours far and between. Music is a big part of my life and I have a very broad interest. While at work I mostly listen to international songs with good vibes often in languages that I don’t even understand. I truly believe that music is universally good for the soul.
About Me
My general interest is Biomedical research in an academic setting. I earned a bachelors degree in Biochemistry with a minor in chemistry from University of Colorado Boulder. Currently I am enrolled in a PHD program at the department of Biochemistry and Molecular genetics at CU Denver School of medicine. My long -term goal is to teach at a four-year university and also perform clinically relevant research.
As an undergraduate student I worked under a graduate teaching assistant as a “peer denver">tutor” in general chemistry I&II. Informally I also helped classmates in subjects ranging from freshman Biology, chemistry physics and maths to upper level molecular biology and biochemistry. I have a 12 & 16-year-old cousins that I have been frequently denver">tutoring over the past 5 years. I help them work through assignments and also assist in understanding new and difficult concepts that come up throughout the years.
My denver">tutoring philosophy is deeply rooted in helping students understand the fundamental CONCEPTS and the methods of employing sufficiently clear reasoning that are based on facts alone, to simplify, interpret and digest seemingly complex ideas. Equally important to me is the ability of students to acquire a genuine interest in the subject so that they can explore on their own. After all zeal is the best teacher. Hence I put a high premium in presenting big picture ideas that connect to the real world in the hopes of capturing the student’s imagination.
