Fun Facts
I just moved to Indianapolis from Florida for a new job and I am loving it! Hoping to meet new friends through an experience such as this one!
About Me
I am a recent graduate from the University of Florida and continuing my education online for my M.S. in Aerospace Engineering. I work as an aircraft engine component designer during the day. I love teaching and have enjoyed it as my hobby while in high school and in college!
Experience
I was apart of an ACT Prep program during my junior and senior year of Highschool in which I would teach classes of 4-6 kids at a time math/indiana/indianapolis">ACT Math and Science. I continued my tutoring as an in class teaching assistant for Calculus I for three semesters during college and Calculus II for some of these same students I came into contact with. I also worked as a Peer Advisor while on campus at UF helping lower classmen choose their class schedule based on their interests and desired workload.
Approach
I think the most important concept to understand when teaching someone new is putting yourself in their position and trying to see their approach to a given problem, especially in STEM related coursework. Many fundamental concepts in Math and Science are taught differently so using my desired approach might not mesh well with their fundamentals. I like to see their thought process and expand upon it rather than overtaking theirs with my own.
