Fun Facts

I am a twin and my twin brother has been my rival in academia, sports, and practically every competition we've ever been in. In fact, we were competing to see who would become valedictorian for our class and in the end, we became co-valedictorians! We are also good partners as we played doubles in tennis together on our high school tennis team. Tennis is actually one of my favorite things to do along with playing video games, watching anime, and reading manga.

About Me

I am currently a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences at New York University and I am majoring in psychology with a 4.0 for my major GPA and a 3.615 in my overall GPA. After graduating, I would like to pursue a PhD path in order to become a Clinical Psychology or a Child Psychologist. In my high school, I received an award for academic excellence for all of my math classes including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, AP statistics, and AP Calculus.

In my high school, to help complete the volunteer experience as required by the National Honor Society, I tutored middle school students in their French classes. I tutored different students for three years until I graduated. Hoping to continue tutoring in college, I participated in the America Reads and Counts program and worked in Tompkins Square Middle School with the hope of moving on from tutoring French to tutoring math with which I am more comfortable. I helped 7th graders with algebra, statistics, and geometry and many of the students whom I helped saw their test grades improve dramatically.

In my high school French classes, my teacher always taught us vocabulary and grammar at a pace that we were comfortable with and she slowly built up from easier content to more difficult content. Seeing as this was effective among my classmates and me, I tried to do the same principle with those I've tutored in order to make them feel comfortable and more confident first and then slowly go into more difficult content. I also liked the use of positive reinforcement with them as my French teacher often played games with us to help us learn and giving candy to us when we succeeded. I enforced a similar method with the students I worked with through competitive games in which the desire to win the game alone was enough for them to want to succeed.
