About Me

Hi, my name is Emily Ayala. I am 23 years old, living in the Uptown Charlotte area. I completed my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology at Coastal Carolina University in 2019. I completed my Master's Degree in Sociology this past spring, May 2022. I have done extensive research on education and the inequalities that exist within different socioeconomic statuses, and different races. For the past two years I have worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, where we provide ABA therapy for autistic children. This fall, I will be transitioning into my new position as an assistant teacher in a education/north-carolina/charlotte">special education classroom.

Experience

Registered Behavior Technician
At this job, I use applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to guide one on one skill and behavioral development with my clients who were on the autism spectrum.
Teaching Assistantship
As a TA I helped professors with their undergraduate Sociology 101 classes. I helped answer student’s questions and grade papers.

Approach

I am a first-generation Hispanic woman. Both of my parent's immigrated to the US from Colombia. Growing up, it was hard for us to get extra help in school due to our circumstances. Therefore, I am very passionate about going above and beyond to help students in any way possible. I want to be a role model and guide students to success in their educational careers. I am also comfortable working with a diverse group of students from all races, socioeconomic statuses, etc.
