I'm a 3rd generation educator. I live to teach. "Lightbulb moments" are what keep me going. That and dogs! I love furbabies of all kinds! I have lived all over the US, including places like Alaska, but I settled in Texas 20 years ago.

About Me

My broad experience allows me to be very versatile, as I am competent in multiple areas of study. I love working with students until I find the right way to help them understand and have their own "lightbulb moments". I offer encouragement and instill discipline in study habits to create stellar educational experiences. I currently volunteer with a small group designing a website to present a very different way of teaching dyslexic learners.

Experience

I have 20 years experience tutoring for all ages and abilities. I have worked in GED, ESL, literacy programs, high schools, colleges, and after school educational programs with learners ages 5-55+. I have specific skills in disability education for learners with physical and learning challenges, including the visually impaired, dyslexia/dysgraphia, TBI, and other barriers to success.

Approach

Learning from my greatest teachers growing up, I believe in positive reinforcement, multiple strategies, and consistent performance. I work with students to find the ways they learn best and cater to those needs to deliver an uplifting educational experience. I work hard to ensure the learning process is FUN so students want to be engaged. Every student can learn - it's my job to help them figure out their best strategies for success and encourage a love of the learning process.
