About Me

I am a graduate of Bryn Mawr College where I studied Political Science, History, and Middle Eastern Studies. I learned Arabic in college, and studied abroad in Jordan. I also worked abroad at the Asian University for Women in the pilot summer school program. I am passionate about closing gaps in education. I have worked extensively in urban environments and with refugee populations.

Experience

I have been a private tutor for 10 years. I began tutoring math in 8th grade for extra credit, and I never stopped. I continued to tutor all throughout high school and college PK-11th grade. I am driven by results, and I am proud to see my students grow and deliver results. I also worked as a teacher in North Philadelphia in the K-4 space, where I also produced significant results in my students' education achievement. I am excited to continue this work.

Approach

I utilize a basic skills and direct instruction approach. I believe that learning and obstacles in learning often result from unfinished learning and lack of mastery of fundamentals. Much of what we learn in the classroom is cumulative. My approach dissects the current appropriate standard being tackled, and seeks to diagnose the mastery of each component that spirals into the current concepts and skills required to master the standard.
