Fun Facts

I love baseball and finding new recipes to cook! I have been going to baseball games since I was a baby and I am a die-hard Mariners fan! I am currently trying to learn how to master the art of making curry and fried rice. I also have a processing disorder, I think this helps me help kids who have learning issues like me more, because I can relate to them and their learning challenges.

About Me

I am a recent graduate of Linfield University, earning a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. I knew I was passionate about working with kids ever since I was a counselor in training at summer camp. One of my favorite parts of teaching children is seeing their lightbulb moments when something finally makes sense, or seeing them accomplish something that is hard for them. I like to be someone who will be there every step of the way for my students, encouraging them and cheering them on.

Experience

Besides being a counselor in training at summer camp in high school, I have had many other opportunities to work with children. Many have been through aiding in elementary schools, being a summer school teacher, and completing student teaching my senior year of college. During summer school I was able to co-lead both math and ELA (math for 2nd and 3rd grade, and ELA for 4th and 5th grade); I had the chance to create fun and engaging lessons for different ELA and math concepts.

Approach

As someone with a processing disorder, I struggled throughout school and have had some not so supportive teachers. As an educator, I hope to change this for the students I will have that have learning difficulties. I want them to feel capable and supported in whatever way they need.
