Fun Facts
I have always loved learning. When I was still young my grandmother often exclaimed that I had "a thirst for knowledge." (According to my mother, my grandmother, as a schoolteacher introduced phonics into the San Francisco school district in the early 1900s. When my brother built his own darkroom to get into photography, I joined him to bond, but I also knew I would learn a lot even though I knew I would never choose photography as a career. I love teaching and watching my students grow
About Me
I graduated from high school with honors as a Life Member of the California Scholarship Federation and recipient of the Bank of America Award in foreign languages. In one semester I was President of the above (CSF), the Foreign Language Club, and the Chess Club, of which I was also champion.
I majored in mathematics at U.C. Berkeley before dropping out to become a minister. In 1980 I worked my way through school to become an Electronic Technician, then in 1990 to become a computer programmer.
Experience
I have tutored in piano, trigonometry, geometry and basic arithmetic to young people. My proudest moment was when my geometry student's mother told me he got a B in the subject! I was really gratified!
Approach
I find out how each individual learns and adapt my teaching to that person. Everyone learns differently, so this approach is very important to me and guides me every step of the way in my teaching.

I became an expert Perl programmer, using my skills at Fry's Electronics for a special project ordered by John Fry. I am especially adept at Regular Expressions.
Series 6 Tutoring
Passed the Series 6 exam on the first try when I worked in the insurance industry (life and health).
SQL Tutoring
Learned SQL at Sybase and employed it for a private application using Microsoft Access.

Insurance Exam Tutoring
I have a California State Insurance License. I successfully passed the test on the first try and was appointed with many carriers, including, ING, Prudential. The test is not that hard, and I look forward to helping anyone with their need for preparation.
Series 63 Tutoring
I hold both the Series 6 and Series 63 Licenses. I successfully passed both of them on the first try on the same day. This qualified me to sell variable products like Variable Life Insurance and Variable Annuities. I sold variable annuities for Prudential and variable life insurance for other companies. These are difficult exams, and I am happy to help anyone who needs it with this material.
