I'm a huge sports fan and follow all the Columbus teams. I like to be active and outdoors. I love animals, especially dogs. I am a self taught guitar player.
About Me
My name is Josh and currently I'm a 5th year PhD graduate student in developmental psychology at Ohio State University. My focus is on developmental and educational psychology, and I am in progress towards earning a graduate minor in quantitative psychology. I have been teaching introductory psychology at Ohio State for the past 2 years and have also taught a course in career exploration. I have experience working with children ages 5 through college years.
I have been involved in columbus">tutoring and education for the past 7 years. As a junior at Santa Clara University in California, I spent a summer in Peru teaching english to spanish speaking children and adults. My senior year I became the Department Coordinator for the Department of Education and Mentoring at the Santa Clara Community Action Program and tutored at Sacred Heart Middle School in San Jose, California. After earning my undergraduate degree in psychology, I was accepted to the PhD program in psychology at Ohio State and am currently working in developmental psychology. The work I do focuses on the problems that children and adults have in understanding biology. In addition, I've taught introductory psychology for the past two years.
In columbus">tutoring and education, my goal is to explain the material to a student in the simplest terms possible. I often times use analogies and real world examples to help students understand material. I believe that patience is very important to learning, and that often times teaching a student material simply involves explaining it in the right way.
