About Me
I currently hold a Master of Arts in Child and Adolescent Literacy from Loyola Marymount University. I also have a K-6 Multiple Subject teaching credential which I obtained at Mount St. Mary's College. I am currently working as a substitute teacher for K-12 Charter Schools in Los Angeles. I have a strong passion for literacy and enjoy helping struggling students become academically successful. My current goal is to seek a full-time elementary teaching position. My long term goal is to become a literacy coach at an elementary/middle school.
My previous job was at Broadway Elementary as a T.A, I worked intensely with the intervention program. I used my knowledge in literacy to implement a program called Explode the Code for EL learners. My main job with these students was to work with their fluency, phonetics, and their reading-comprehension/california/los-angeles">reading comprehension. I worked with students one on one, partners, and groups depending on the students needs. As a high school student, I worked as a tutor at Tarzana Elementary and Newcasttle Elementary School while being in the Teacher Academy. I worked with first and second grade students in the areas of reading and writing. As an undergrad, I worked at Sylvan Park Elementary School as a Language Arts tutor for 1st grade to 4th grade students.
I want to use a variety of teaching strategies to help my students at FrogTutoring. Some strategies I would use to help students is scafolding techniques, a varitety of reading strategies, visualization, questioning, thinking maps, and monotoring thier own thinking. I want students to feel confident about the content I'm teaching and encourage them to do thier very best. Overall, I am interested contributing all my energy, enjoyment, creativity, and teaching experience to FrogTutoring.
