About Me
I am a retired English Professor from SJSU and have degrees in writing and applied linguistics (ESL) .
Experience
I am a semi-retired English professor (13 years at SJSU), currently tutoring Ph.D. students at Stanford University. I help them with papers they need to publish. I have experience tutoring elementary students in reading, writing, and helping them while they do their homework.
Approach
Elementary school students: I go over the student's issues with their parents. If possible, I work with their teachers to help them where they need it.
High school: I begin coaching and teaching by asking students to tell me what they need to write and what problems they might have.
College: I help them edit and develop papers, etc

Writing Tutoring
I have a Master of Fine Arts in Creative writing, which includes the following forms and genre: poetry, nonfiction, fiction, essay, and online writing.
ESL Tutoring
I have a Masters Degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. The coursework in this masters degree include transcribing into IPA, discerning semantic differentiation (the difference between how another language constructs sentences as compared to English), and extensive training in working with ESL and EFL students.
