Fun Facts

I love working with animals and being outside in nature! Hiking, outdoor sports, or just hunting for critters are my favorite things. I've worked with armadillos, pollinators like bees and flies, planarians (freshwater flat worms), chickens, and rodents! I love learning from other people, and everyone has something to teach! Tell me what your interests are, and share your goals for tutoring.

About Me

I am a recent graduate from Southern Illinois University, having earned my degree in Zoology and Environmental Science. I also studied American Sign Language and Deaf Culture and love being able to practice with members of the Deaf community and other learners! I've also worked in pharmaceuticals for a few years, and have a technician level license for operating HAM radio.

Experience

I've had quite a bit of experience reading and writing scientific articles, working in lab environments, and both working and studying in the medical field. Math and science were the core subjects focused on while in college, and my favorite style to learn was through hands-on lab work, field work, and animal handling experience.

Approach

I think the best way to get through a tough subject is to first learn how YOU best learn! Learning is not something that starts and ends with school - we are learning throughout our entire lives. Figuring out how to make yourself comfortable with the things you don't know, yet being able to equip the skills to seek out knowledge and experiences is something that you will utilize for life. Let's figure out how to take a tough subject, and break it down in a way that makes sense to YOU.
