Fun Facts
My hobbies include reading science-fiction/fantasy literature such as the Harry Potter series, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Terry Pratchett’s Discworld series, and the Artemis Fowl books. I also enjoy doing research in my lab at the ASU Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, as well as golf and kayaking. The latter much more so, as I love to be out on the water whenever I get the chance. Otherwise I’m in class, doing research, or phoenix">tutoring (the last one is the best of them all).
About Me
I am a junior Biochemistry major in the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University. Following my graduation I plan on either acquiring my PhD through a foreign graduate school (in England or Germany) or enrolling in an MD/PhD program in the United States. My ultimate aspirations are primarily research-oriented, with an acute interest in the clinical applications of regenerative medicine.
My phoenix">tutoring experience goes back to my freshman year of high school when I started phoenix">tutoring senior-level students in German. Being a native speaker of the language, that was my most proficient subject. However, after completing eight AP tests (never scoring below a 4), receiving the National AP Scholar award, and winning several department awards, I was able to expand my scope of experience and phoenix">tutor other subjects along with German, such as Chemistry, all levels of math up to Calculus, and English. Most of my phoenix">tutoring experience has been with high school students, but as of late I have mostly been engaging college students through informal gatherings. Now that I’m with Frog phoenix">Tutoring, I will be able to return to a structured teaching environment with both high school and college students.
I know through both personal and observational experience that the prospect of seeking help from a phoenix">tutor can be an intimidating endeavor for a student. As such, I approach any learning situation with a goal-oriented and focused demeanor along with a casual and friendly attitude that creates an environment in which learning is not only encouraged, but also becomes an enjoyable process. Furthermore, in order to make the learning experience more efficient and fluid for the student, I request that materials relevant to the phoenix">tutoring session be emailed to me one to two days ahead of the appointed time so that I am able to adequately plan out a session that is both socially and mentally engaging for the student as well as focused on strengthening the student’s weak points.
