Fun Facts
I am passionate about teaching. I am the oldest of 5. I am married and have one little Llasa Apso(dog), named Penny. I also am an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God and serve as a Next Gen Pastor in the South Dallas area. Whether at church or online, I will get my teaching in š. I also train our North Texas district churches on how to serve children with special needs.
About Me
I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Monroe in 1994. My BA was in education/texas/arlington">Special Education with Elementary Education and Early Childhood. I am certified through the state of Texas for PreK-8, both education/texas/arlington">special education and elementary education including ESL.
Experience
I have been working with children since I was 16. I spent 8 years as a classroom teacher, 3 years as a substitute teacher, and 2 years as an online teacher.
In the classroom, I taught Pre-K, K, and 1st.
I am primarily teaching online. I wll only entertain in person if the driving distance is 5 miles or less from my home in Arlington.
Approach
I believe all can learn. I use a systematic approach to teaching multiple subjects. When I was young, I had a delay because of my health.

English Tutoring
I have taught English for many years. I have certification from Texas to teach this subject. Additionally, every company that requires this competency to teach, I have aced the tests.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I am an elementary school teacher. In my last class, my students topped out the math scores with the highest percentage of passing in my school. I used both hands on activities and repetitive practice combined with music to achieve this.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
My kids typically passed the reading comprehension screenings and assessments with the greatest gains from beginning of the year to end of year. I am very systematic in approach. I used data to drive my teaching.
Science Tutoring
Every company that requires a competency assessment to teach science, I have passed.This is a certification I have as an elementary teacher. This past summer, I tutored 2 reoccurring classes of high school science.
Social Studies Tutoring
Iām certified to teach this as an elementary school teacher. This subject can be fun!
Writing Tutoring
I am certified to teach writing for elementary students. My writing skills are very strong. In one Kindergarten class, I had very reluctant writers until one day something silly happened that I asked them to create a story about. They were still talking about that lesson at the end of the year.
ESL Tutoring
I hold an ESL certificate with the state of Texas, as well as a TESOL certificate. I am working on an collegiate TEFL certificate now. I have taught ESL in the classroom, and I have taught ESL(full immersion) for mainland China for two years
Reading Tutoring
I love reading. My approach to reading is systematic. My students typically have the greatest gains on beginning of the year screenings to end of year assessments.
