Fun Facts
I LOVE to travel. Meeting new people and studying new cultures fascinates me. I can never stay inside Washington state for more than 6 months without a vacation. I am also a math nerd. I enjoy numbers and the equations and the critical thinking that comes along with it. Also I love children. I have a little sister and multiple little cousins that I adore and babysit often.
About Me
I am a senior at the washington">University of Washington majoring in Accounting. I have an associate's degree in business from Highline Community College. I graduate in June of 2015, and hope to continue on at Georgia Tech or Georgia State University to receive my Master's in Taxation, and hopefully go on to become a Certified Public Accountant.
As a mentor at the Ethiopian Community Mutual Association, I work with many underprivileged kids who often times bring their school assignments that they need help on. I was also a mentor at the Summer Engineering Experience for Kids, where I taught science, math, technology and engineering to 21 fourth grade girls in a classroom setting.
As a student myself, in the past I was often too embarrassed to ask for help. I then realized that I am a visual learner and not an auditory one. This helped me tremendously when one of my teachers assisted me in understanding this about myself and adapting my learning environment like so. I plan to guide my students in the ways that my previous mentors guided me. Simply being there till they understand concepts, and not just getting the right answer. Also helping them find the best way for them to learn because everyone is different.
