About Me

I am a graduate of Winthrop University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and a Master of Arts in teaching secondary mathematics. I have been tutoring, part-time and a student and now full-time, for 6 years.

Experience

Since my sophomore year at Winthrop, I have been a freelance tutor. I have worked with over 20 clients during the last 6 years, mostly focusing on Algebra (college algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Foundations of Algebra, and Intermediate Algebra.

Approach

As a tutor, I am very intentional about getting to know my clients and their learning styles before we begin and throughout my time working with them. Good relationships are the key to a good learning experience. I spend a significant amount of time trying to understand what my clients do know so that I can fill in the gaps in their understanding of the concepts. I make sure that my clients understand not only the process of doing mathematics but the theories that explain the process as well.
