Fun Facts

I love to read and travel-- and absolutely love being able to connect the two. Shakespeare and Thomas Hardy are my favorite authors and in London I watched Antony and Cleopatra at the Globe! I am also deeply passionate about human rights and political issues and so I spent summer interning with a physics professor in the Marshall Islands to interview people about the US nuclear testing.

About Me

I am a sophomore at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University (CC' 2017), with a GPA of 3.94, and on the Dean's List. I hope to double major in History and Economics and minor in Classics. I am Senior Editor on the maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia Political Review, have published two articles in the print edition, as well as contribute frequent web articles. I want to get my Masters and then PHD in History/Economics and either go into academia or political/economic consulting.

In high school, as a member of National Honors Society and National French Honors Society, I had the opportunity of tutoring middle school kids in Math and French. Upon entering college, I knew I wanted to continue to interact with students in a fun but still academic way, so I became a College Mentor at the Double Discovery Center at maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">columbia-university">maryland/columbia">columbia">maryland/columbia">Columbia University. Throughout the Fall Semester, I meet with two high school seniors and help them fill out and complete their college applications, including editing essays and helping them build a college list and resume.

My tutoring approach would be to make sure that there is a balance between class and course materials for whatever subject I am tutoring in, including handouts, homework assignments, written exercises, and example papers, as well as providing the individual help that each unique student needs. While it is important to follow and learn the subject material, according to the course (going through the AP or course syllabus), it is also really important to focus on whatever particular problem a student might be having on a certain section or unit- and providing more help and support there.
