Fun Facts
I love to travel! I lived in Bolivia for two years where I worked with children and taught English, reading comprehension, and life skills. Besides Bolivia, a few of my favorite places are Peru, Italy, and Turks and Caicos. When I'm not traveling I love movies and comedy shows!
About Me
I'm originally from California where I attended Humboldt State University as a social work major. I was on the Dean's list as well as accepted into the Honors Society throughout all 4 years. I am currently taking a short break from the University of Texas at Arlington where I am perusing my master's in social work with an emphasis on mental health.
Experience
I was lucky enough to grow up with two parents who were teachers (5th grade and high school juniors) and from a young age, they encouraged me to tutor. I have experience working with students from kindergarten to college. My father is also ESL (English second language) so I spent a great deal of time helping him to learn English and how to read. I also was in AmeriCorps where I worked as a college completion coach and tutored students attending the University of Texas San Antonio.
Approach
Growing up I struggled with ADHD and Dyslexia. I needed to learn in a different way than most students. While having tutors myself, I learned creative ways to process and absorb scholastic information. I hope to bring a creative way of leaning that can also be fun!
