About Me

Graduated from Stanford University in 2011. I majored in Human Biology, with a focus in Health, Nutrition, and Human Performance as an undergrad. Post college, I worked for Dr. Oz's non-profit, HealthCorps, which sends recent college grads to a low income high school to promote health among the students. In addition to teaching innovated and interactive health classes, I led after school cooking and fitness clubs, and coordinated wellness councils and health fairs.

I have a brother who is 11 years younger than me, so growing up I was constantly helping with homework and boston">tutoring him and his friends. In a more traditional boston">tutoring sense, in college I volunteered with a program boston">tutoring local low income elementary school student utilizing targeted reading intervention. Throughout my senior year in college, I tutored two students twice a week, directly reporting to an education professor for advice and feedback. With my role as HealthCorps Coordinator, I also tutored my high school students in basic subjects such as English, math, and history.

I think the most important thing about being a successful boston">tutor is understanding youth and how they learn. A Nobel Prize winner, while brilliant and accomplished will most-likely not make the best boston">tutor, as it is important to engage youth so they can understand the subject matter. My basic boston">tutoring strategy revolves around identifying what type of learner my student is, as many individuals are tactile, kinesthetic, or visual learners, rather than simply auditory, and ensuring I am presenting the subject in this matter. Success boston">tutoring requires a planned approach, but also the ability to accurately check for understanding throughout the session and adapt the boston">tutoring context respectively.
