About Me
I am currently enrolled in graduate school at Arkansas State University. I am majoring in School Counseling Specializing in Crisis and Trauma. I’ve been enrolled for a year now and I’m already at the end of my program! I am also a Kindergarten Instructional Aid and I love helping students increase their vocabulary, and developed reading skills, mathematics, alphabet, and phonics.
Experience
As an Instructional Aid, I have experience working with children of all backgrounds and age groups. I have more experience with Preschool-Elementary school children, helping them gain knowledge in reading, math, social skills, motor skills, and language arts.
Approach
As a child, I struggled with certain subjects in school, but was too afraid or shame to ask my teachers for help and attend tutor. Once I start working with children and noticed that some students struggled as I did, I wanted to help them reach their full potential. I always love to tell my students, I once struggled in school as well and with my speech, but I graduated college early with a 3.40 G.P.A. and am now enrolled in graduate school with a 3.95 G.P.A.

EnrolledArts Tutoring
While working through the YMCA, I created and partake in many different lessons plans that catered to the Arts. Art allows the students to be creative and have fun engaging and learning. Art can also teach the students realism when it comes to different shapes and objects.
English Tutoring
To help students in English, I focus on language arts with basic reading, writing and linguistic / communication skills. I have helped students learn to write in cursive and understand the important of a signature, syntax, thematic writing and vocabulary.
Homework Coach Tutoring
While working through YMCA and St. Paul Catholic School, I help students who had difficulties with their homework. Since students stayed for after school care, helping them with homework allow the student to get more understanding and allow them to enjoy their free time when they return home.
Elementary Math Tutoring
While working at St. Paul School, I helped kindergarten students with math by doing many hands on and musical task. I have helped students learn to count money, tell the value of the money, and identified money. I have helped students learn to count, identified numbers, and tell time.
Reading Comprehension Tutoring
To help students with Reading comprehension, I first like to show students the cover of the book to receive their predictions. While reading to students, I like to sound very enthusiastic and even ask students questions throughout the story to make sure they understand what we are reading.
If students have to complete answers with the passage, I like to have the students read the questions first and create a gist of the story as they read.
Reading Tutoring
During my years of serving at many different schools, I helped students not only learn how to read, but to understand what they are reading. I have helped students struggling in reading reach their full potential by time they pass to the next level or graduate. I am currently working with kindergarten students and teaching them phonics and blending helps the student learn to read even before they get to 1st grade.
