I have many interests outside of reading and re-reading Tolkien novels. Gardening pulls me in every spring. I am also an avid hiker and enjoy finding new trails with my husband and son.

About Me

After the pandemic, I went from being a part-time English professor at Clovis Community College to being a full-time stay at home mom. I homeschooled my child through Kindergarten and now I volunteer in his second grade classroom as a teacher's aide.

Experience

After receiving my master's degree in English studies from Fresno State, I was immediately hired as an adjunct English professor at Clovis Community College. My job was to ensure not only reading comprehension, but employing critical thinking skills as students improve on their essay writing. I developed my own curriculum and taught both English 1A and English 3. As for working with children, my experience as a volunteer teacher’s aide has given me direct experience with school age children.

Approach

I meet the students where they are and teach from there. Much of my teaching philosophy is that everyone can improve with gentle encouragement. I pride myself on bringing out the best of every student. We can use all the tools and tricks to get students to improve, but if they are not comfortable and encouraged, they will not learn. I hope to provide an atmosphere that helps the student become their best self.
