Fun Facts
I've been playing for 13 years. During that time I've released four albums, been on TV and radio, made music videos, and toured parts of the US. Right now I am part of a group that plays around Albuquerque.
About Me
I am a PhD candidate in social psychology at New Mexico State University. I have published several articles in scholarly journals and given talks at scientific conferences. My work has been covered in media outlets such as the New York Times.
I was an instructor at New Mexico State University for two years. I taught the following courses: Experimental Methods, Advanced Research Seminar, Emotion and Motivation, and Psychology of Personality. The methods and seminar courses both involved teaching statistics as well as giving students feedback on their writing. My classes consistently received high ratings and positive comments from students. Averaged across all of my previous students, I received a 3.85 rating (on a 0-4 scale) in response to the question “What overall grade would you give this instructor?”
My success in teaching can largely be attributed to my communication ability. I have been a member of the public speaking organization Toastmasters International for six years. During this time I have won speech contests, acted a judge for speech contests, and been certified by Toastmasters International as a Competent Communicator. I have also given several talks and presentations at international scientific conferences. My training in communication clearly impacted my teaching; averaged across all of my previous students, I received a 3.90 rating (on a 0-4 scale) for my “ability to convey knowledge on the subject.”
