Fun Facts
I love to garden. My favorite blooms are peonies. I also have a vegetable garden that keeps my family enjoying fresh tomatoes and herbs through the summer.
About Me
I have been a first-grade teacher for the past 19 years. I love the energy and curiosity of little ones. I understand how one-on-one tutoring time can impact the academic success of a child. I have always enjoyed that aspect of being a teacher. I live with my husband and daughter who is in college. I also have an older son who lives on his own.
Experience
I have been a first-grade teacher at Our Lady of the Lake School in Verona for the past 17 years. Before that, I worked as a first-grade teacher before the birth of my daughter. I have served as a mentor for student teachers and as Curriculum Coordinator of Reading/Language Arts for my school. I also served as a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years.
Approach
My philosophy is that every child can learn in his or her way. A good teacher has a toolbag of strategies and techniques to help a child achieve success. Once a child has a taste of success progress is often made quickly. Positive reinforcement is crucial.
