About Me
Originally from Northern California, I am a Magna Cum Laude UCLA graduate with a BA in Linguistics and Anthropology. I recently moved to Columbus, OH after spending a year in Florida and Pennsylvania pursuing a higher education with my horses. I am very hardworking and responsible.
I have been working as a columbus">tutor since 2005, when I began working through a volunteer program at my high school to help underprivileged and ESL students with their core elementary school curriculum. Since then I have gone on to work privately in homes with students of many ages - from elementary school to high school - in subjects including English, Algebra, Geometry, US History, World History, Basic Statistics, reading-comprehension/ohio/columbus">Reading Comprehension, middle school science, study skills, and basic homework help. My areas of expertise include essay writing and grammar. I have worked with ADD/ADHD students, children in foster homes, and also ambitious college prep students.
I am open-minded and patient. I don't mind being flexible to accommodate each student's needs. I think that excellence in school starts with organization and an ability to manage time and prioritize. I recommend that each student maintains an "assignment calendar" and a tidy work space/backpack in order to stay on task and complete/hand in 100% of assignments on time. Many talented students are getting average or below-average grades in school only because they lack good study habits or the discipline to stay organized and on task. I think that I help in these areas in addition to being able to clearly and effectively explain and reinforce concepts brought home from the classroom. I like to be the "fun columbus">tutor" that students feel comfortable around and look forward to working with each day.
