Fun Facts

I am not only a tutor but also a learner myself! I enjoy studying languages - I enjoyed studying Japanese so much in school that I went on to teach myself Chinese and study abroad in Taiwan! I also enjoy learning new sports - I have been spending most of my free time mountain biking and have also started learning how to rock climb outdoors.

About Me

I am traveling around the country to explore new places, and am currently living in Phoenix, Arizona. I love spending time outdoors, especially horseback riding, hiking, and mountain biking. Aside from tutoring, I have also worked for several years as a therapeutic horseback riding instructor and barn manager.

Experience

Throughout college, I tutored students in ESL and academic writing. After graduating, I continued to pursue my interest in teaching by tutoring ESL online to young adult learners from other countries. I continued tutoring online while pursuing a graduate degree. I also studied abroad in Japan and Taiwan, which gave me perspective on working with people from different backgrounds. I love sharing my knowledge with others, and my experiences allow me to relate to my students on a personal level!

Approach

I believe in every student’s ability to overcome difficulties with learning and reach their full potential. When I meet a new student, first I look at their skills and abilities and then think about what extra support or adaptations they may need to help them reach their goal. It is my job as a tutor not just to deliver information and knowledge, but to work with the student to make sure they are learning most effectively and positively as possible, and that can look different for everyone.
