About Me

I've taught undergraduate and graduate students, general literature and writing, both creative and academic, where critical thinking, the tactical deployment of evidence, and the management of argumentation are essential. I excel in circumstances that permit me to work one-on-one with students of diverse backgrounds and educational needs.

Experience

Having served on university faculties for 20 years, I've had the chance, both in the classroom and one-on-one, to guide students through a great range of background experiences, learning styles, academic ambitions, anxieties, and hopes.

Approach

My method couples a Socratic approach with the lessons of Carol Dweck's Growth Mindset discoveries to propel students confidently into higher achievement. The greatest pleasure is derived from watching students extend the nature and quantity of their future opportunities and take true possession of their achievement and, indeed, their learning, deriving genuine pleasure from it.
