I am a beach bum! If I could tutor from the shore or pool I’ll do it! I’m a FAN of Notre Dame football, and when I cook I play Frank Sinatra as loud as possible! My wife is a superstar in our school district, and my kids are my pride. I love teaching because I get a kick out of seeing students “get it.”

About Me

I am an assistant principal at a local elementary school which is the fulfillment of one of my top goals as an educator. I’ve been privileged to teach all subjects in the field of Social Studies at the secondary, middle, and elementary levels, and my specialty has been AP US History and AP World History. I’ve also been privileged to coach football and softball for over a decade.

Experience

I am a member of the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and throughout college, I worked as a tutor to all manner of students. Throughout my time as a teacher, I conducted tutoring and study sessions for social studies students in all social studies subjects. I also worked as an AP tutor for my students and students at other schools.

Approach

As a tutor in college, I learned from experience that most students did not know how to approach taking notes and studying. Their approach to notetaking was one of copying everything down from the board, but this approach did not support their comprehension and application skills. In truth, that had been my approach until I learned that I was simply getting information rather than experiencing it.
