Fun Facts

I am currently in a band where I play synthesizer and guitar. During my free time, I am usually writing poems that I try to convert into lyrics for my other musical projects. My longest tour with a band was a little over a month and it went from Phoenix up to Vancouver.

About Me

I have an undergraduate degree in literature analysis from Arizona State University. I focused on a variety of subjects during my time there, such as medieval, indigenous, experimental narrative, and film literacy. I am a great public speaker and can adapt to situations on the spot. I come from a family that has a lot of problems with reading, writing and speaking formally. They have inspired me to go for higher education in English. As someone who was not enthusiastic about school as a kid, I understand how it can be frustrating and sometimes humiliating to struggle with learning. I only hope to help my students know that my tutoring sessions are a safe space to grow.

Experience

During my time in high school, I enrolled in the IB (International Baccalaureate) English courses. In that program, I learned all about essay writing, the Socratic method, and evaluating my sources. Depending on what the student's needs are, I can pull those tools I have learned from a high school level and go all the way up to a university level of critical thinking.

Approach

I want my students to feel comfortable, not only in our sessions, but most importantly in their classrooms. I think the most important thing is finding out exactly what the student is having problems with, correcting the problem, and then building confidence and providing tools so that the student will be able to find solutions on their own.
