Fun Facts

While I love writing, I dabble in other arts as well and have spent 15 years teaching myself new skills. I paint, draw, photograph both on film and digitally, sculpt, and I play a few different instruments as well. I am a bunny mom; I have four little fur babies that live with me all named after astronomical terms (stars, planets, etc.).

About Me

I am a poet, a philosopher, and a humanitarian. I love people and having good conversations. I don’t do small talk though. I recently graduated college with my Degree in English, with minors in Psychology and Philosophy as well as studies in Art History. I plan to return for my master's in either Psychology or Linguistics. After that, I would eventually like to pursue a Ph.D. in Philosophy, though I am uncertain of what area I would research. I also hope to publish a couple of books someday, as well as sell some of my art.

Experience

As someone who was a part of the Lee Honors College for two years, I have always been someone that other students could come to with their questions. I helped many of my friends as well as classmates when studying. In high school, I tutored a good friend of mine in geometry for a semester and helped him move up two grade letters. I use a patient and personalized approach in order to best help someone understand something they’re confused about.

Approach

I always challenged myself academically. Throughout school, I did my very best to get straight A’s, but I learned from every single “failure” that I made. I was very hard on myself, but over time I learned to appreciate the things I did not know. However, I believe the focus should not be on the grade, but on comprehension. If a student is sitting with failing grades on the scale, it doesn’t make them a failure. My job is to help the student understand in the best way they can so they can be

English Tutoring

I majored in English with an emphasis in creative writing, but my entire life I have excelled in English classes, and am very comfortable talking about it. From grammar to essay writing to literature comprehension, I do my best to explain what techniques work for me, but help students find different methods to understanding the content which would best suit them!

Writing Tutoring

I am a Creative Writing major, and have been writing since I was 6 years old. Writing is a skill that I have dedicated myself too, which also makes me an effective communicator. Therefore, when it comes to writing, I can help students be concise, use proper language and grammar, as well as amping up their writing whether it is creative or research/academic based!

Arts Tutoring

I am an artist in my free time, and though I have not studied it through university, I took most of the art classes my high school had to offer. I am also self-taught through studying the work and techniques of other artists. I paint, draw, and photograph, but I can sculpt a little as well. I spent two semesters in college studying Art History as well.

AP English Tutoring

I took AP Language and AP Literature in high school and passed both with high A’s. I know what is expected from these classes and I can help students build confidence in their writing and reading skills within these courses to help with comprehension. These courses are also designed to prepare students for college so I can assist in the transitional mindset that’s rooted in critical thinking.

Geometry Tutoring

As much as I love English, I’ve always had a knack for mathematics. I tutored my friend in Geometry in tenth grade and helped him significantly. I got A’s in all my math courses in school. I understand all of the equations and how they function. Geometry is a part of my art as well, so I have had to learn how to effectively use these principles in my own life, but I can help students to understand how to arrive at the correct answer when solving geometry problems.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

As an avid reader, but also someone who struggled for a long time to read effectively, I have found a few tricks that helped me to improve my own reading comprehension that I could then share with other students. I am also incredibly patient and I think this is an important skill to utilize when reading as well as helping others to read and understand the content, main ideas, arguments and the overall point of the piece.

Psychology Tutoring

I minored in Psychology in college and find it interesting even outside of my classes. I still study it on my own time. I am passionate about this subject and can help students understand the intricacies of behavioral psychology as well as general psychology.

Pre Algebra Tutoring

I was very good at math in grade school, I just never pursued it further because I focused on other subjects. However, I love Pre-Algebra. It is a challenge, but once I explain to students how to use the equations and explore the patterns you begin to see while working with them, it makes it seem like a breeze. Practice makes perfect!

Algebra Tutoring

As with Pre-Algebra, I feel the same about Algebra. It is challenging and I understand where most students are confused. I used to help my classmates all the time. Working through the equations, defining their variables and using color coding to help understand what parts of the equation to do first are all key skills that I can teach to students to help them lessen the headache of math class.

Homework Coach Tutoring

I’m a very organized person and can help students to organize a schedule for their homework that is effective but not overwhelming. I can help students with different study skills as well that can be useful to maintaining their homework schedule.

Middle School Math Tutoring
