Fun Facts
I've lived and been educated on three continents: North America, sub-Saharan Africa, and western Europe. I enjoy literature, foreign language films, and photography.
About Me
A multicultural and multilingual hybrid, I was born in France, raised in Kenya and the US, and came of age in western Europe. I'm a political science geek with extensive experience living, learning, and studying in Western Europe: France, Germany, and Belgium. I'm a passionate language learner and I enjoy fostering cross-cultural and multilingual exchanges.
Experience
As a university student in Europe who needed to make ends meet, I tutored my fellow classmates, friends, and others in both conversational and written English for more than eight years. My experience with foreign language acquisition is dual: I've been both a learner and an educator in this field.
Approach
My approach to teaching a foreign language is grounded in the understanding that transmitting a language is not merely a question of vocabulary and grammar, one is also transmitting a culture and a mode of thought. I believe that it is key for a tutor to be creative and bridge the gap between the student and the foreign language using the student's personal interests. As such, I emulate my brilliant high school German teacher who integrated creativity and play into her classroom daily
