A lot of people say that I look very calm even though I'm nervous. I think I have a way of making others feel comfortable and calm when I'm around them. For interests and hobbies, I love rock climbing, aquariums, and travel.

About Me

My name is Sami and I'm originally from Canada. I used to be a registered nurse but had a career change to ESL teaching. I moved to San Francisco and received an MA degree in TESOL. I'm excited to get started with this new career and to learn more as a teacher.

Experience

I have volunteered with several online and in-person ESL organizations such as Paper Airplanes, Canal Alliance, Laney College, and St. Agnes Church. Most of these organizations are located in the San Francisco Bay Area. At these organizations, I volunteered as an ESL aide or ESL teacher.

Approach

Being a compassionate and patient person has always been important to me. I want my students to feel comfortable and know that they can approach me about anything. I love to inspire my students by believing in them. I also think that student engagement is important, so I try my best to be creative with lesson planning. Students learn best when the learning content is interesting and fun. I want to connect with my students and have a positive impact on them.
