Fun Facts

I lived in India for 7 years, basically one-third of my life. I am fluent in my mother tongue, Telugu, and love listening to music in various Indian languages. I am a huge fan of BTS, a growing KPOP boy band, and have been for almost 6+ years. I also listen to American artists like Charlie Puth and Taylor Swift.

About Me

I am a Junior at Fresno State University, majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Art. I love teaching and hope to get my Master’s after my undergraduate. I have about a year and a half of undergraduate studies left and I am not sure where I want to get my Masters, but I would prefer to be closer to the bay area because that is where my sister lives. I am contemplating if I want to stay in Fresno or leave but a part of me would like to stay if I had a good job that would give me a steady income and entry to a good college. I sketch whenever I can and would love to learn Art even when I am doing my Master’s.

Experience

I have had many experiences with students and tutoring in my life. I was a peer mentor in high school and college for a year. In both positions, I volunteered to advise Freshmen on classes, resources, clubs, and much more. I was able to experience mentor-mentee bonding and was assigned up to 6 to 10 students. I worked as a Chemistry tutor for a year in college, teaching students Chemistry I, Chemistry II, Organic Chemistry I, Organic Chemistry II, Analytical Chemistry, and Chemistry lab content.

Approach

One common approach I believe always works is when I start by trying to build rapport. It is easy to feel guilty or judged for asking too many questions or not understanding concepts quickly. I met many students who come to me for help, but shy away when asked if they understand a concept or if they have any questions. When we build rapport or get to know simple and fun facts about each other, it gets easier for students to be open and honest about progress. I prefer to learn wh
