Fun Facts

One fun fact about me is that I love animals. I’ve had chickens, turtles, birds, cats, and dogs. At the moment I have one chicken, 3 cats, and an 8-year-old Yorkie. I also walk dogs. And I pet-sit dogs and rabbits when their owners go away on vacation. Another fun fact is that I love to spend time outside, I try to go outside for at least 30 min every day! Some other fun facts are that I’m a middle child, I love the color green and my favorite number is 25!

About Me

I am a person that loves to dip my toes in new things to gain more knowledge. I am curious and always have been. I love to learn and research and share my findings with others. I love to read. I love being outside and spending time in nature. I love trying new foods and testing recipes. My goal is to have land where I can milk my own cow in the morning, get my eggs from my chickens, and be surrounded by nature.

Experience

From a young age, I always assisted my classmates with understanding what we were learning. I would also play teacher for hours at home, recreating the lessons from class. When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to help a bilingual child that was in elementary school with his homework. Then in college, I was the team leader for Jumpstart where we would go to a preschool on the Lower East Side in Manhattan and teach preschoolers.

Approach

As a child, I loved school. Fortunately the teachers I had always encouraged me and offered me more ways to learn. As a tutor, I plan to bring the same encouragement and energy to my students. I know that not every kid enjoys school work but I believe that kids can enjoy learning if they are told and know they can do it. Those who are encouraged want to keep showing up. Those who are shamed for not having the best grades are more likely to not want to even try. The approach is key.
