Fun Facts

I have been involved with theatre ever since I was in sixth grade. I love to sing, act, and dance and was in an acting company for three years performing roles such as Ariel from The Little Mermaid and Belle from Beauty and the Beast. I love talking about musicals and can definitely get into some pretty fun conversations about them.

About Me

I attend boston-university">Boston University and am currently majoring in Biology and plan to either double major in Science Education or minor in Education. I am a freshman and my high school GPA was a 4.15. After college I plan to obtain my masters in Education and teach either in high schools or in educational outreach programs. My goal is to serve as a mentor to students to get them engaged and excited about science and to help them achieve their highest potential.

I tutored a high school freshman during my junior year in high school in Honors Biology. I went to her house every week and helped her with homework problems and answered any questions she had on problems. I mainly aided her with test prep. We used her course materials as well as my AP Biology notes to help find new and more effective ways to understand difficult concepts.

My approach is to work through problems with the student first so that they may see an example of how to go about the problem. I then provide them with problems so that they can practice what they just learned. I break concepts down into multiple examples so that the student has many new ways to look at the concept at hand. When a student does not seem to get a problem, I move on until I can find a better manner to explain it. I prepare for boston">tutoring sessions by asking the students what concepts they need help with and brush up on those topics before coming in to see them. I also tell my students that it is okay to fail because failure provides us with a way to see what we need to change and thus we can improve.
