Fun Facts
Cancer got me interested in biology right when the Human Genome Project was completed. I un-ironically listen to vinyl..." mainly for the scratches!". I stayed in school after the military until school threw me out with a Ph.D., and then I kept going.
About Me
I've worn uniforms in three services for our nation and spent years deployed overseas. The rest of my adult life has been spent researching cancer biology, viral genetics, diagnostics, and vaccine development. I like dogs and family time.
Experience
Worked successfully with many students: visiting overseas scholars, at-risk high schoolers and AP high schoolers, technicians, and professionals in the area of genetics, biochemical methods, and viral molecular biology.
I've also enjoyed teaching Adult Basic Education and tutoring the GED.
Approach
Find the level the student is at, without being patronizing. Work from there. Appreciate that they are intelligent with a supportive parent(s), or else they wouldn't be asking for a little help. Everyone could use a little help, sometimes!
