My favorite thing to do to relax is roller blade around my college campus. With my headphones in and music blasting, I can really just enjoy myself. I also thoroughly enjoy playing sports. About Me
I am a second-year at wayne-state-university">Wayne State University. I am majoring in Communication Studies with a co-degree in Gender, Women, and Sexuality Studies. I am also a member of the Honors College and will graduate with university honors. I currently have a 3.65 cumulative GPA. After I graduate, I plan on attending law school although I have not decided where yet. My roles on campus include resident advisor in the Towers Residential Suites and an orientation leader for the office of admissions.
During high school, I was apart of the National Honor Society. This gave me the opportunity to detroit">tutor students at a nearby middle school once a week during my junior year and senior year. I also worked for Kenniss Academics for just under a year. Kenniss was a detroit">tutoring center in Grosse Pointe. I worked with elementary to high school students in all subjects. During the summer of 2012, I helped run an ACT prep course there. Kenniss worked with Detroit Public School students as well. The DPS students came in once a week and I was one of the detroit">tutors assigned to work with them. Kenniss closed permanently in October 2012 or I would have continued working there. I would be thrilled to return to detroit">tutoring through Frog detroit">tutoring!
My approach to detroit">tutoring has always been focused around patience and clarity. Certain topics or subjects in school are just hard for students to grasp. Patiently working through a math problem or essay or reading assignment with a student can be super encouraging for them because they know that someone is there to guide them. I pride myself on having clarity when it comes to explaining a topic/problem to a student. When working with a student, I attempt to understand how the student thinks by asking them questions about their thought process as they work on something. This way when they are having trouble with something, I can give them an explanation and/or example that follows their line of thinking so that they can understand the topic more easily.
