Fun Facts

A fun fact about me is that I enjoy reading mystery books and writing essays. Any free time I have is spent playing the piano, guitar, and/or playing with my dog Peanut. I currently work at Starbucks, I have been with the company for five years, but I hope to obtain my Master's and teaching credentials to pursue becoming a teacher.

About Me

I have recently graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor's degree in English. I am working on obtaining my Master's in English with Grand Canyon University as well as my teaching credential. I am also working towards obtaining my CBEST in order to become a substitute.

Experience

I had the opportunity to be a teacher’s assistant for a 4th-grade class during my senior year of high school and in my first year of college, I was also an English teacher’s assistant for a summer program at Fresno State called Upward Bound. I also assist high school and college students in writing essays. My more recent opportunity was being an after-school tutor for 4,5,6 graders through Teaching Fellows.

Approach

As a child, I struggled to appreciate reading and writing. Growing up I had found the subject to be confusing and never understood the purpose of the subject. However, I received some extra help from after-school tutors and teachers who have expanded my understanding and created a deeper appreciation for literature as well as writing. As I continue my studies, my love for literature and writing has only grown and encouraged me to help others become successful in the subject.
