My biggest passion is learning new languages and about new cultures. In the future, I would like to travel more and experience different places. I am a bookworm and animal lover who loves to write and spend time with family.
About Me
Currently, I work part time with a textbook publisher helping train teachers in literacy strategies and teaching techniques. I was a teacher for seven years where I taught middle school Spanish and high school English. I have also taught English as a second language to Chinese students online. I am passionate about literacy and second language acquisition and believe that all students can achieve greatness with the correct supports.
Experience
As an educator for seven years I taught middle school Spanish (Spanish I & II) and high school English (English I, on level & advanced). During that time, I was fortunate to serve as World Language Department Chair, English I team Lead, and the English I curriculum writer for the district. In the past, I taught Chinese students of various levels and ages English virtually. I currently work with a textbook company training teachers across the country on literacy and teaching strategies
Approach
To promote student learning and growth, I use research based literacy (or second language acquisition) strategies that I have gained from my time as a teacher. It is also imperative to build rapport with students to help them feel safe and confident. I am a very warm and compassionate teacher but I also believe in setting high expectations for each student. Every student can achieve when given the right tools and encouragement.
