Fun Facts
One fun fact about me is that my family and I love vacationing at Disneyworld in Florida. We have made many happy memories there over the last twenty-five years and have visited over 20 times! I have lived in Louisiana all of my life. I also enjoy volunteering in my church, and at my neighborhood elementary school where I work with students in grades K-5, as well as with students with ASD and Developmental Delays.
About Me
I am a retired teacher and over my teaching career I taught in grades K through 12. I have a son and daughter as well as three grandchildren who I spend time with every day, I love to substitute and volunteer at the elementary school in my neighborhood. I graduated from LSU and later attended Southeastern Louisiana University for certification in education/virginia/washington-dc">Special Education. I am the President of the Psi Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa, a professional sorority for teachers.
Experience
I taught for 34 years in elementary, middle school, and high school settings. I have worked as a short and long-term substitute at all three levels since retirement, as well a virtual teacher which included using Google Classroom and Zoom. I have been awarded Teacher of the Year twice during my time in the classroom. I am looking forward to working with Frog Tutoring to help students meet their achievement levels and succeed to their highest capabilities.
Approach
I like to use the differentiated learning/direct instruction approach when working with students, which consists of clear, concise instruction based on the level and readiness of each student. Teacher-guided instruction/learning, independent practice, reteaching as needed, and consistent and constant review will equip each student with the necessary skills and knowledge to become proficient in all areas of their learning.
