Fun Facts

When not working or tutoring, I am still going to graduate school doing not one, but two Master's degrees! I have a dog, a little beagle named Penny, who also loves to take up plenty of my time with walks, playing, and a little too much barking at squirrels.

About Me

I work full time as the eLearning administrator of a small college, meaning I help support and create all of the online classes. When I graduate with my Master's degrees in Library Science and Instructional Design & Technology, I will be qualified to be the Dean of the Library and Center for Teaching & Learning.

Experience

All throughout highschool, I worked as a tutor for Algebra, the introductory levels of science (high school level chemistry and physics mostly), History, and Spanish. I transitioned to just mentoring my fellow students in history and religion when I started my undergraduate degree. As part of my current full-time work, I spend countless hours every week tutoring students in college success and digital literacy.

Approach

I often felt like there just was not enough time in class or during office hours for my instructors to give me and my classmates the time needed to become comfortable with the class material. Tutoring helps bridge that gap. I believe using the time in a tutoring session to learn how the student best succeeds by offering multiple ways for them to engage with the material and offering different perspectives can help make everything click!

Writing Tutoring

For all of the degrees I have earned, becoming experienced with college level writing is a must. I can help middle school students learn the basics of citation for any style they may be using - MLA is the most popular within K-12. I can help them look for sources and cite them properly, as well as argue their point in a way that sets them apart from their classmates.

History Tutoring

My undergraduate degree was in History. I specialized in U.S., Ancient Near Eastern, and European/Russian History. I tutored history throughout high school and my undergraduate program.
