Fun Facts

I am the oldest daughter or two and the first to go to college in my family. I grew up in a small agricultural town but have now been living in Fresno for a few years with my partner and our two pets( a doggie and a kitty)! I love to go out hiking when the weather is warm to connect more with the earth.

About Me

I am currently taking my last semester of classes at Fresno City College before I can apply for my associate in Psychology. I have been on the Dean's list for the past year. I plan to transfer to Fresno State next semester to pursue my Bachelor's in Health Science. I hope to one day work in administration for a clinic or hospital.

Experience

I had been working for Assist programs which was an after-school, health and nutrition-based program. I was fortunate enough to be able to work for this company for about eight months before everyone got laid off. While working with this program I was able to work with kids prek-8th grade. I was required to deliver a planned curriculum every day that consisted of a word of the day, topic, and activity. After I would help with homework and snack time.

Approach

While working at one of the schools I got to meet two 2nd graders who had just arrived from Mexico and only spoke Spanish. They reminded me of myself when I first started Kinder because I also went in not knowing English. I began to help them with their homework to make sure they didn't have to struggle once they got home in case there wasn't anyone at home that could help.
