About Me
Alicia, a master's tutor, has a master's in elementary education. Specializing in reading and math up to Algebra 1. She has tutored a range of students from the elementary level to the high school level. She has experience teaching grades 1-8. Alicia has a specialization in middle school math, where she taught 6th-grade math for 3 years. Math has always been her strength, and she enjoys watching students understand the concepts of her examples and connections. Her bubbly personality and her quick/comfortable rapport with her students allow them to feel comfortable asking for help and understanding the content. Alex has always loved working with children and looks forward to all of their 'Aha!' moments. Tutoring is something she would like to continue to do outside of her regular teaching position.
Experience
I taught in the classroom for 4 years before I moved to working virtually and working with students in their homes. I have taught up to Grade 8 in mathematics and English. Since 2020, I have focused on working closely with students in math, reading, and history up to grade 9.
Approach
As a child, I struggled with learning and my parents did not have the resources to find help for me. I would try very hard on my schoolwork, and I will never forget the heartache I felt because I struggled to keep up with my peers. I have gone into teaching because I do not want another child to struggle with their education.
