About Me
I have been subbing for the past 2 years after being a SPED Case manager. I enjoy the flexibility this allows me. I have worked in SPED since 1998. I prefer to work with SPED families to help them fill in the gaps left by the schools. I am and always have been a strong advocate for my students. Sadly, not all districts follow the SPED protocols. I like to help families understand what the IEP means, what services they should be receiving, and how to make sure the students are getting all the service minutes. Also, any other issues a family may have in working with the exceptionalities of their child.
Experience
SPED teacher and case manager at various schools.
Approach
When working with students I like to let them set the pace. If we are struggling on a subject, I like to review back to where the student understands the process. When working with SPED students I try to work to the strengths to get small victories to build self-worth in each student.
