I am a big Marvel fan and enjoy other fantasy genres from hunger games to Tinkerbell. I love relating concepts we are learning to a shared interest to help engage learning!
About Me
I am a current Masters's student at UC Berkeley and have degrees in Geography and Political Science. I was a previous community college student and also hold specialized certificates in Communication, Ethnic Studies, and teaching Microsoft Suite. Additionally, I have been working in economic development, policymaking, and agricultural economics, and have done work in computation and data analysis.
I tutored in community college so am very experienced in teaching re-entry students or older students hoping to learn to work computers and adapt to new industries. I have also tutored very young children and up to high school students at various levels. I also have experience with kids with special needs. In addition, I am very good at adapting to different learning styles, particularly visual, and am very patient. Learning (not just memorizing and reciting) is the goal!
I have a particular interest in helping high schoolers and community college as they prepare for college and transfer. I have spent 3 years working in admissions at UC and spent time as a transfer counsellor, so I would love to go beyond just tutoring and engage in preparation and advice for that transition!
