Fun Facts
I love reading so much that I have two bookshelves and books stacked in one of my closets. I am a native Louisianan and cook the best gumbo imaginable. I also enjoy arts and crafts and am learning a new craft. I cannot draw, but I like colouring books.
About Me
I worked as a full-time high school English teacher for 5+ years. I am currently working on the completion of my doctorate in psychology, combining what I research in my classrooms or online.
Experience
I worked as a full-time high school teacher at Tucson High Magnet School and am working to get a full-time job in Washington State. I have worked in education from the time I was an undergraduate until the present. I also tutored students with learning disabilities and traumatic brain injuries. My skills were needed during COVID and became a necessity as parents wanted to do as much as possible to keep children on track academically.
Approach
I never really struggled in school but always reached out to classmates who were struggling. When I became a parent, I had a child who struggled in some of her classes. I learned from her that we have to adjust to student needs and one size does not fit all. Most students are not unintelligent; they just have a different way of learning. I have noticed that many teachers are still resistant to using technology in the classroom, but I have used books on YouTube for students who have trouble
