Fun Facts
I've just spent a year living abroad and teaching English in Spain! I am learning Spanish, but I am not fluent yet.
About Me
After 13 years of classroom teaching in CO (which I loved doing!), I decided that it was time for a change of pace. I enjoy the one-on-one and small group interactions that I can have when tutoring or helping students to learn a new language. In my spare time, I love reading, especially beta reading and writing reviews for new authors. I also enjoy hiking, watching sci-fi movies, exploring new places and travelling!
Experience
I am an experienced teacher with certifications in Early Childhood Education, education/iowa/des-moines">Special Education, and Teaching English as a Foreign Language. During my 13 years in the classroom, I have worked with students with a wide range of skills and abilities who came from a full spectrum of family and cultural backgrounds. Most recently, I spent a year in Spain, teaching English to children ages 2-10, individually and in small groups.
Approach
I have always loved reading and learning, and I want to share that love with others. Language is the key that unlocks that door. When I see a child struggling to learn - to me, that doesn't mean that the child can't learn. It means that something about the instructional style or teaching strategy that I am using isn't working for that child, and it is my job to adapt the instruction to meet their needs.
