About Me

Hello! My name is Emma Cruz. I am from Madison, Wisconsin, and recently graduated from a TEFL program in Costa Rica! I have around 4 years of experience tutoring and teaching students of all ages and in many different subjects. I am super passionate about education, social justice, art, languages, helping others, and much more.

Experience

As an English Teacher with Cambly, Inc I had the opportunity to meet new people from around the world, every day. For around 1 year, I worked as an online English teacher and helped my students prepare for English exams and work presentations, helped them write other work-related documents, practice speaking and reading, and learn new grammar topics and vocabulary. Along with this, at the Union League Boys and Girls Club in Chicago, I served as a tutor and mentor for around 2 years!

Approach

My teaching style is very student-centered and real-world applicable. As a teacher, I encourage and advise students to set their own goals, and do as much as I can to help them achieve these goals. I approach teaching as more of a collaboration, working together to learn and grow with set expectations and of course, mutual respect. My teaching style is very flexible, as I adapt to the different learning styles, growth areas, and skills of my students.
