About Me

I am a fourth-year student at the washington">University of Washington in Seattle majoring in science/washington/seattle">computer science and have a strong mathematics background. I have recently applied to a master's program at the washington">University of Washington and hope to continue to a Ph.D. in the future.

Experience

I have experience in tutoring in a variety of scenarios. I worked at Kumon while in high school where I also volunteered to tutor in the after-school math lab at my school. While in college, I have independent experience in remote one-on-one tutoring. I also have real-world experience in contract software development work where I worked on a large codebase.

Approach

Going through high school and into college, I never had that much of an issue with academics, so while in high school I tutored in the after-school math lab and worked at Kumon. In both these places, I learned that giving out answers is ineffective for a student, and instead walking through the problem step-by-step, allowing the student to solve the answer themselves. Using just the right amount of guidance through a problem helps reinforce the knowledge of a skill.

I also have experience in linear algebra, where I took a class at UW as well as extensive experience in computer graphics programming. In high school, I took AP Computer Science and got a 5 on the exam. Furthermore, my major at UW is in computer science, and I have extensive experience in computer science both inside and outside of school. What is taught in AP Computer Science is entry-level, which I have taught to people before.

I am a fourth-year computer science student at UW. I have done very well in previous classes, and understand them much better after taking each class. I have maintained a high GPA throughout college as well. I am best suited for teaching any programming language, computer graphics, or low-level programming constructs.

C++ Tutoring

I have taken classes at UW that use C++ (systems programming) of which I did well in. Furthermore, I use C++ outside of school quite a bit and understand everything going on in it, including explicit memory management, STL, etc. Most of my experience is from outside school, but is extensive, as I have major personal projects that make use of nearly all of C++'s language features.

C Tutoring

I have taken multiple classes at UW that used C (hardware-software interface, systems programming, and operating systems). This is also my programming language of choice when working on personal projects. As a result, I have years of experience working with C in a wide variety of applications.

Java Tutoring

Java is one of my most used programming languages. AP Computer Science used it, which I took in high school and most classes that I have taken at UW that require programming used Java. These included entry-level classes, data structures, software design, and distributed systems. I also have experience outside of school with this language, as one of my jobs required me to write code in Java.

Python Tutoring

I learned Python while in college, as it was used in a few classes. There were two main classes that used it. The first was an applied mathematics class, where I had extensive experience in numpy and matplotlib. The second was in a web browser engineering class, where we wrote a web browser, from scratch. This required implementing networking, rendering, HTML/CSS parsing, JavaScript support, etc. in Python.
