About Me
I graduated from the University of California Berkeley in May 2011, with honors in Integrative Biology. My favorite subject is human physiology. I have taken a number of courses and labs in this area. I also completed a thesis on the molecular functioning of the Kidney while studying at Berkeley. Furthermore, I have done clinical research at UCSD related to the treatment of PTSD and schizophrenia. I am very passionate about the biological and medical sciences, and I am currently interviewing all over the US to attend medical school. I took the MCAT in 2010 and scored in the 94th %ile in both the biological and physical sciences. I love teaching and have a strong background in teaching all areas of biology, physics, chemistry and math.
I currently home-school a number of students in biology and chemistry. In addition, I tutor and prepare many students for biology, physics, chemistry and math class exams as well as the SAT II and AP exams in these subjects. While studying at UC Berkeley, I was an instructor for one of the general biology lab courses. As an instructor, I helped write exams, tutor students, and design the labs.
I am very passionate about teaching, and my goal is not only to get you as a student to understand the material, but also to help you find an interest in it. I help my students with test prep, test taking skills, subject reinforcement, note taking skills, homework, projects, and study habits for all the science and math courses. Half of the challenge of doing well in class is learning what it is you need to learn from all of the material given. I spend time with my students teaching them how to filter out important information, how to LEARN instead of memorize information, and how to prepare for exams so that last minute cramming does not occur. I have some great test taking skills--both free response and multiple choice formats-- that I teach to my students. As a tutor, I am very persistent when I work with my students. My goal is to make sure that they truly understand the material before I move on. I hope I can be of service to you in your studies, and I look forward to working with you.
