Fun Facts
I love to have conversations about music that has sparked me to discover how I can add to this art form I love. I also love to listen to stories of people who have traveled to different places internationally. Picking the brain of the kids I work with also gives me a perspective of life that as adults we can forget. Anything that continues to add perspective to this life journey I am on, I enjoy; always open to learning new things from any person and experience.
About Me
I've been in education for pretty much all of my adult life (since the age of 18) and have a huge passion for helping scholars gain confidence in learning math skills, especially scholars in the 6th-9th grade.
Experience
- Worked for a non-profit organization during the summers of my college career where I taught math and literacy courses
- tutored with various organizations throughout my four years in college
- Became a middle school math teacher in 2019 and have been teaching ever since
- Taught math content from grades levels 6th-9th
Approach
I like to inspire scholars to grow confidence to understand math concepts clearly. Math is seen as a difficult subject, which in mid. school, it tends to seem that way. That time is when way more complex concepts are introduced, all while there is a disconnect at times in the classroom between teacher encouragement and lesson engagement. I try to build a safe environment where scholars are encouraged to try their hand and if they make mistakes be empowered by what they have learned prev.
